Is Bountiful Utah really Bountiful?

When you’re looking for a new home wouldn’t it be great to think that cities with descriptive names actually lived up to their titles? Don’t you want to know that Liberty really is liberal and that Enterprise is full of pioneering businessmen? When you happen on the name Bountiful you just want to start looking at houses for sale but does it deserve its name?

Bountiful is just north of Salt Lake City, Utah and is a city with a population of around 45,000. The oldest part of the city and Downtown nestle at the base of the Wasatch Mountains and most of the residential neighbourhoods climb upwards and backwards into the slopes. The west side extends toward a flatland that extends to the mudflats and marshes that border the Great Salt Lake.

Unemployment is less than half the national average and prospects in Salt Lake Valley continue to grow, all three high schools have high percentages of AP students and its geographical location provides recreational opportunities all year round – Bountiful is a playground winter and summer.  Add to that a low cost of living, a low crime rate with practically nil violent crime and house prices that haven’t been damaged by the banking collapse, who wouldn’t want to invest in real estate in a clean city with plenty of open spaces and tons of things to do?

Housing in Bountiful runs the entire range of home type from condos and townhomes  with a mean price of $80,000 through to luxury real estate over $1million, most of which can be found in bench positions on the slopes with magnificent views over the valley. The Median price (most common) of housing in Bountiful is $250,000.  The majority of residents work outside Bountiful but come home to shopping in 2 well laid out, well equipped malls, good restaurants and good night time entertainments. At weekends they might wander out into the country to pick apples in one of the many orchards or into the woodlands for a nature ramble except in the winter when they might hit the slopes. 

Life in Bountiful is something that lives up to the city name.
